Scanning a QR code
Every asset, job, and inventory item in Tero.Ops has a QR code. Scanning it on a phone or tablet opens the right record instantly — no menus, no search.
Opening the scanner
In the mobile app, tap the QR icon in the top bar (camera viewfinder symbol). The viewfinder fills the screen with a frame in the middle.

Hold the phone so the QR code fills the frame. Tero recognises it within a second or two and opens the matching record.
What scans do
| QR sticker on… | Opens… |
|---|---|
| An asset (engine, pump, vessel section) | The asset’s detail page |
| A job (printed work order) | The job’s checklist and details |
| An inventory item (a part) | The item record with current stock |

Where QR stickers come from
Every entity has a downloadable QR PDF on its detail page. See Generating and printing QR codes for the print workflow — sizes, labels, and best places to stick them.
Troubleshooting
The scanner doesn’t detect anything.
- Make sure the QR code fills at least half the frame
- Wipe the sticker — dust and grease block reading
- Improve lighting or use the phone’s torch
It opens the wrong record.
- That usually means a duplicated sticker. Check the asset’s detail page to confirm the QR PDF matches what’s on the sticker.
It says “QR not recognised”.
- The sticker may be from a different Tero installation or worksite. You can only scan QRs that belong to your current worksite.
