Recurring jobs

Once a recurring job is in motion, you may need to pause it, edit future occurrences, or end it entirely. This page covers the three management actions.

Viewing the recurrence chain

Open any job that’s part of a recurring chain. The Recurrence field at the top says, for example, “Recurring — every 500 hours”. Click it to see the full chain: past occurrences (completed records), the current scheduled occurrence, and the rule that’s generating future ones.

Pausing a recurrence

Click Pause recurrence. The current scheduled occurrence stays in place but no new occurrences are generated when this one completes. Use Resume recurrence to switch back on.

Useful when an asset is laid up or being modified — you don’t want to keep accumulating overdue PM tasks against it.

Editing future occurrences

Click Edit recurrence. You can change:

  • The interval (e.g. from every 90 days to every 60 days)
  • The meter or meter threshold
  • The default assignee
  • The job description (applies to future occurrences only)

Editing recurrence rules

Existing scheduled occurrences keep their original values unless you also tick “Apply changes to current occurrence too.”

Ending a recurrence

Click End recurrence. The current scheduled occurrence stays (you can still complete it), but no further occurrences will ever be generated. This is final — to restart later, create a new recurring job.

Use this when:

  • An asset is retired
  • The maintenance procedure no longer applies
  • You’re replacing this recurrence with a different one
