Setting up preventive maintenance
Preventive maintenance (PM) is work that should happen on a schedule — every 500 engine hours, every 90 days, or “whichever comes first.” Tero supports both triggers separately or combined.
Time-based recurrence
Choose Time based as the recurrence trigger. Set the interval (e.g. 90 days) and the first due date.

Each time a job in the chain is completed, the next is automatically created with a due date completion_date + interval.
Meter-based recurrence
Choose Meter based. Pick the meter on the asset and set the interval in the meter’s units (e.g. every 500 engine hours).

Tero monitors the meter. When the reading crosses the threshold, the job becomes “due now” automatically and appears in the assigned tech’s queue.
Time and meter (whichever comes first)
Choose Time and Meter. Set both intervals. Tero schedules the next occurrence at the earlier of the two thresholds.

This is the most common pattern for engine maintenance: “every 500 hours OR every 6 months, whichever is sooner.”
What happens when a recurring job completes
- The completion record is saved with parts used, hours, and notes
- The job status flips to Completed
- A new job is auto-created in the chain with its due date calculated from the rules above
- The assigned technician is notified
